Work requirement 2 is connected to the Consumer Chemistry Section and will be assessed as an 800 - 1000 word assignment.

You will need to submit a report on the UV-visual spectroscope or the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) that you experimented with at RMIT.

Your report should include:

 The chemical principles behind the operation of the machine

• A labelled sketch of the instrument
• The function of each component
• The main use/applications of the instrument
• How the instrument is calibrated and used
• The experimental results (experiment 1 & 2) that you completed at RMIT

The report should focus on the concepts of quantitative analysis relevant to the instrument.

If an the report does not satisfactorily address each of the dot points above, it will be returned and the student will have the opportunity to redo and resubmit.

The work requirement will be assessed to an S or N standard.

It is anticipated the project will take approximately 5 hours of time to complete - (including the prac sessions)
