ANALYSIS: EXAMPLES OF INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY

 

 

Work requirement 4 is connected to the Industrial Chemistry Section and will be assessed as a portfolio of items that are completed during this area of study.

 

Significant amounts of the exam CAT 1 is based directly on this work requirement, consequently it is important that students have the fundamental experiences involved in and understandings derived from this task.

 

Some components of the Portfolio will be assessed on an ongoing basis.

 

If an item of the portfolio is not performed to a satisfactory standard, the item will be returned and the student will have the opportunity to redo and resubmit the item.

 

The work requirement will be assessed to an S or N standard.

 

The Work Requirement has 2 focus questions:

    1. Why are certain chemicals produced in large quantities?
    2. What compromises must be made in the production of these chemicals?
